The Caldwell County Commissioners Court meets approximately twice per month (regular sessions plus workshops and special called meetings) at the Caldwell County Courthouse, 110 S. Main St., Lockhart, TX 78644.

Caldwell County governs unincorporated areas and county-wide services including the sheriff, tax assessor-collector, district clerk, and county clerk. The county regulates subdivision platting, on-site sewage (OSSF), and floodplain management in unincorporated areas. The incorporated cities of Lockhart, Luling, Martindale, and Niederwald have their own separate governments.
